Welcome to Farringdon Community Academy’s website.

Farringdon is a school dedicated to improving the lives of young people in the communities of South Sunderland.  Our values, “Brighter Hearts, Brighter Minds, Brighter Futures”, are understood by all of our students, staff and parents.

There have been some wonderful results for students at Farringdon this year.  Over 24% of our students achieved at least 5A*-B grades which equals our best ever performance.  In fact it has been a record-breaking year at Farringdon in several subjects, with A-C pass rates in Business (82%), French (86%), PE (91%) and History (72%) being the best for many years!

Although we are delighted with these performances of these students we have always strived to create a school which supports every child, in every subject, regardless of their ability.  We personalise our curriculum to offer challenge and support whatever level of ability a student may have.  We are therefore delighted that 97% of our students achieved at least 5 GCSE pass grades – that’s inclusion.  Our value added and progress measures show that, on average, ALL students make at least expected progress at our school.  It is safe to say that there is something for everybody at Farringdon.

I cannot think of another school where there are so many opportunities for students.  We have a yearly trip to the Gambia to visit our friends at the Gunjur Project as well as lots of other trips and visits throughout the year.  You can read the Gambia on the website.  Our drama, music and dance clubs are thriving and students from Farringdon have performed with distinction at the Sunderland Empire this year as well as on our own stage with a superb performance of “Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat”.   Whatever you want to do, you can do it at Farringdon!

I hope that you enjoy finding out about our school and find our website informative and inspiring.
